Lost in Translation

(This is something I wrote about 7 years ago which I have decided to revisit. I really had a lot of fun writing it!)

I have always been fascinated by ‘lost-in-translation’ incidents. I think more than any other language Yoruba in its idiomatic purity lends itself to this. We (Yoruba and pseudo-Yoruba people) have all heard ‘the soup is dancing’ and ‘there are 3 bottoms with which to pollute.’ Continue reading “Lost in Translation”
